my may flowers

A daily drawing series

MAY 1, 2018 —

Florals are one thing that always seem to make their way into my artwork. I think they are beautiful and I admire so many artists who can do them well. As much as I love flowers and greenery, I don't make enough time to practice creating them. After a lot of thinking and planning, I’ve decided to do a 31 day series of floral drawings this month. The goal is not to have 31 finished, beautiful pieces of art, but to challenge myself to take time to practice the skill every day. There’s no one style I am sticking to for the whole month, but I’ll be practicing line drawings, sketches, patterns, and other styles that will hopefully challenge me, improve my drawing skills, and help me discover my own floral style.

MAY 2019 —

A year later, I brought My May Flowers back. I owe a lot of my business and followers to this challenge, so it was only right to bring it back better than before. I averaged about 45 minutes longer drawing each flower this year, and I explored new styles and designs instead of playing it safe.
